Hi,

I am looking to upgrade my PC, specifically the CPU and Mobo. Ideally I want to upgrade for future proofing to see some substantial performance increase.

My specs are

Cpu - I7 8700k 3.7ghz, isn't OCd
Gpu - nvidia Geforce rtx 3080 asus rog
32gb ram ddr4, corsair dominator and vengeance rgb Pro
Mobo - Asus z370 prime A
Samsung ssd 1gb
Corsair h100i v2

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

This will allow you to reuse your RAM assuming it's DDR4 3200mhz.

Thank you, that helps alot with seeing the performance I currently have, vs what I can get.

Would I need to replace my AIO cooler? Not sure how the mounting looks on the Asus tuf motherboard

You might have to contact corsair, for an LGA 1700 bracket, for your AIO. Your next best option, while technically on a new dead platform, and assuming you kept the AMD brackets, for your AIO, would be a Ryzen 5000 build. Also, what is the make/model of your power supply?

You will at least need lga1700 mount capability.
That should not cost much.
But if your H100I has any age on it, you might want to replace it.
AIO coolers do not last forever. In time air intrudes through the tubes and the pump, being mechanical can fail or get clogged.

A 12600K is not an overly hot processor, and gaming loads are less than what you would see with multithreaded batch apps.
The radiator size is comparable to many good air coolers.
Noctua keeps a list of which of their coolers are suitable for the 12600k:

For max turbo performance, I would opt for one of the stronger ones.

It is fairly old now, I don't mind replacing as I can get a bigger radiator in my Lian Li case. Would an air cooler be enough for the CPU? Any you recommend specifically?

If its meant for a water cooler, is there one you'd choose? An AIO cooler as I wouodbt want to attempt my own loops etc
