Hi guys,

After saving for months and have enough money, now the dilemma has come. Right now i'm using i7-7700k with asus rog gtx 1070Ti 8GB.
The question is which one is better :
Option A : sell my current PC and then upgrade to i9-9900k + 2080 super (single PC set up)
Option B : sell my current PC and then upgrade to i9-10900k + 2070 super (single PC set up)
Option C : stick to my current i7-7700k + 1070Ti and then buy a mediocre extra PC (ryzen 7 2700 + 1660 6gb or maybe i5 7500 + 1660 6gb) (dual PC set up)

I use my PC mostly for live stream to twitch, and sometimes do small design or video editing. Mostly playing games are Apex Legends, Valorant, COD Warzone, and sometimes Genshin Impact but mostly FPS game.
Any suggestion would be appreciated!

I'd prefer to have one PC do everything. It's less compluicated, less expensive and takes up less desk space.
But what you do is restrained by your budget.
The option A-B-C cost the same for me. Right now i am using dual monitor, so if i go with option C, my desk set up would still the same because im gonna use the second monitor for the second PC.
I am thinking about the value for money, performance and endurance. haha.
Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Well what’s performance with NVENC like atm?
You mean NVENC in OBS Studio for live stream?

For current set up i7-7700k (without OC) running at 4.2Ghz + 1070Ti 8GB + 16GB RAM :
  • without running the OBS Studio, for gaming only i mostly have 170-220fps in game (CPU usage 30-50% and GPU usage 40-70%), i always play in low quality or sometimes medium because i prioritize FPS rather than visual.
  • then if i play game + live stream with OBS Studio mostly i got 100-130fps in game (CPU usage 70-85% and GPU usage 50-80%).

So which encoding are you using? Because upping the CPU if you’re using NVENC won’t do much, same as upgrading the GPU if you’re using the CPU to encode won’t improve anything either.

If you’re upgrading the whole system I’d wait until AMD releases their stuff and the 3070 is in stock. A 2080 Super is still going for like £700-800 something like that when the 3070 will crush that at half the price. AMDs offerings won’t be too shabby either based on rumours.

For encoding i use nvenc, which has only very little effect on my GPU if i live stream. It only consumes around 5-10% of GPU when i live stream, that is the advantage of using NVENC afaik.
The reason why my CPU usage jump from 30-50% to 70-85% when i run OBS Studio is because i have a lot of 'browser source' which needs cpu to handle it.

30xx series is out of my budget, haha. Here in my country RTX 2070-2080 cost around $350-550 while RTX30xx cost triple of it, that's on my option A and B i go with rtx2070 either 2080.

Opton D: sell your current setup and upgrade to a Ryzen 5800X + (whatever).
