hi

i have this system

motherboard:AM2 asus M2N-sli deluxe
cpu:AMD AM2 athlon 64 3800
graphic:XFX geforce 7600GS
power supplier. 460W STANDARD
REFRIG am2/k8/p4/775 gigabyte
memory 1 gb DDR2 667 kingston

it's old and i would like to change it,but i havent money for it,so i prefer to upgrade it changing some piece to overclockin for few months(about game)

i was reading forums and i saw that geforce 9600GT its worse than 8800GT.The motherboard specifications say that:

2x PCI Express x16 slots at x16,x8 speed
2x PCI Express x1 slots
3x PCI 2.2 slots

So the series 9 graphic card wont work on my motheboard because they are PCI 2.0.Another think is that the memory i have is 1 gb module,i am not sure to buy a 2 gb module at 667,for a total of 3. Or buy a 2 gb module at 800.

it is independent of graphic card, because i will upgrade it surely, only i dont know if it better 3 gb at 667 or 2 gb at 800.

The doubt i have refering the other thing is:

what would be the cheaper way to upgrade efficience for pc game?
Buy a 8800 GT 512 mb.
Buy another cheap motherboard with a integrate graphic card, and with a slot to put a 7600 GS i have.

Another thing i read is that its possible to be more efective doing a overclock of the computer. But a i dont know to do.

bye and thanks for reading my english xD

Upgrading the Video card will net you the most gains first.

All of these cards will give you a big improvement from your 7600GS. They all are within the same price range and performance bracket. PCIe 2.0 video cards are backwards compatible with PCIe 1.0 slots.
Nvidia: 9600GT, 8800GT(9800GT)
AMD : HD 3870, HD 4830,

Next would be more memory: Just pick up 2x2gig DDR2 800mhz kit. Fairly cheap in the US, can be for around $42 US dollars. 800mhz ram makes more sense, if you decide on a newer motherboard, then 800mhz is perfect.

Next, a dual core processor. Brisbane cores can be found fairly cheap, under $100 US dollars. Processor you are looking for is 5400+ BE(Black Edition). If you're lucky and find a 5000+BE, it might be bit cheaper. All Brisbane cores are the same and will overclock to around the same speed, 3.2ghz - 3.3ghz. Getting the BE makes it easier to overclock.

If you are considering PhenomII X4 or X3, I advise you to get a new motherboard before jumping on to those processors. I've read posts of a couple users who couldn't use new PhenomII on 570SLI motherboard.
