Upgrade Query Help!

Planning on upgrading my PC, getting new motherboard and ddr4 etc.. However I still have a 3rd gen processor which runs perfectly and tbh it doesn't even need upgraded. This obviously hinders motherboard selected etc, should i just bite the bullet and buy a whole new motherboard and upgrade the CPU aswell.. Kinda stuck at a cross roads here, any advice/suggestions would be helpful, thanks in advance!

If current CPU is fine, what's the reason for changing motherboard?
Just upgrade ram of your current motherboard. You can use up to 16GB on your current board.
