I was looking to upgrade my cpu and motherboard because i have been experiencing bottle-necking. I was wondering if these two components would potentially prevent bottle-necking and work with my graphics card. Motherboard= AS Rock LGA1155 (http://www.amazon.com/LGA1155-CrossFireX-Motherboard-Z77-EXTREME4/dp/B007KTY4A6/ref=pd_bxgy_pc_img_y) and cpu= Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504). I'm slightly a noob because i got myself into this situation in the first place, so all responses help.

specs:
AMD Phenom II X6 3.3 GHz Processor
AMD Sapphire HD 7970 Vapor-X GHz edition
8 gigs of DDR3 ram
Asus M5A97 motherboard
1000W silent Pro

Solution
You can try overclocking the CPU and see what happens. That is the best way to tell if you are getting bottlenecks. But as I said before a 7970 should not bottleneck a six core Phenom II.

What exactly is your problem because a six core Phenom II should not be bottlenecking a 7970.

I get low fps in about all games i play even on medium settings, about 30 fps or lower, and ive tried all other ways of fixing it but im completely stumped. And i assumed bottlenecking was the problem

This is what my cpu and gpu usage are when ingame without overclocking http://i48.tinypic.com/mc3ujs.jpg

It seems the cpu is not at its full potential staying in about 40-50 percent in game.
Thanks for the help i have been struggling with this for a long time.
