I'm thinking about upgrading my current setup; however, I'm up in the air about whether it's worth it to just throw an updated component, such as a new vid. card into my current system, or just spend the few extra bucks and upgrade my entire system. You think putting in a GTX700 series or an AMD equivalent would be worth it in my current system, or would it be pointless in my current system? Or, would it be more cost efficient to just upgrade the components from the cpu up? Thanks for any advice. It is much appreciated.

That computer still has some good service time in it. Just did a similar upgrade on a friends with an i7-920.
Check this list when you start choosing a video card. You want to be certain your PSU has enough amps. to support the new video card.

You'll be surprised and pleased with the increased graphics a new gen. card will bring you.
Oh, and your I7 is not an 1156 socket, but the old 1366. So when you are ready to spend a LOT of money on your computer, you will probably have to rebuild as there isn't anything thrifty that will work in that socket any more ( but your new card will transfer to a new system!).
Game On!
For game GPU is most important, I will say buy the gtx 700 or an AMD equivalent, it will be more cost efficient to upgrade and you will upgrade the whole system eventually and at that time you maybe still can use this GPU. And because the i7-920 is the LGA1156 socket CPU that is the end of upgrade path, even it is still powerful you do OC it to 4.0ghz. Don't put more money on the old system except the GPU.
