Upgrade R9 390 - $850 Budget

So I've managed to sell off some old stuff I had kicking around, and now have the budget for a new GPU for my main machine. I had a pair of 390X's right after I built my old rig, but I sold a good number of the components to my cousin and replaced them with a single 390. I'm wondering what the best upgrade I could make at this point would be. Looking at a number of different options, like an R9 Fury, R9 Fury X, GTX 980 and the 980ti. I'd be interested in a 1080, but it's out of my budget thanks to the Canadian dollar (and we don't have access to anything but the founders edition cards which I think look awful) I could also pick up another 390 to crossfire with my existing card, though normally people recommend getting the best single card you can afford.

Here's the cards I'm looking at.

GTX 980
GTX 980ti
R9 Fury
R9 Fury X

What should my next move be? Any advice I can get at this point would be appreciated!

My knowledge of the new series of cards is pretty much limited to the 1080/1070 founders edition cards. Have they announced or previewed any of the new aftermarket ones?

I've just read an article on asus launching their 1080 card on launch day. So I consider that when then the 1070 hits the shelves in june it also should have some options.

Might be the best bet. For whatever reason though I've been wanting a Fury ever since I saw one in person. Hopefully I can resist temptation to get the better card.

That said, would there be any merit to picking up one or two 980's depending on price to overclock once the new cards have hit shelves?

wouldn't advise that. 1080 is said to be better than 980 SLI so I'd say wait for the launch of 1070, which still might be better than 980 SLI (haven't looked that up yet) and make your decision then, it'll be way easier when looking at tons of reviews and benchmarks

I watched a video review (will find the video link when I get home) of a gtx1080 going up against SLI 980's. Granted the cards were overclocked but there was a sizeable difference in favor of the sli'd 980's

Only reason I was considering it to be honest

url=http://www.gamespot.com/articles/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-review/1100-6439863/]this[/url] article says that 980 SLI is faster, but remember that 980 SLI wil cost a bit more than a single 1080 for a few FPS increase, not to mention the power bill and some problems that people have with SLI while playing some games.

I had two 390X's so power consumption isn't really a concern. Will think about this a bit more for sure though
