I have a Dell Studio Slim Desktop 540s (Specs listed below) and I'm thinking of building my own system by buying one part at a time and using existing parts until I have the whole system complete. I need a little guidene on a good way to start and what parts I should keep using or what parts I should dump. I defiantly need more Memory and a new hard drive right now.

Case first? Hard drive first,...etc?

I am NOT a gamer, I priamry use it for music (I have over 40k songs), Photoshop, Movie Editing, and video converting. I do video DJing as well as regular DJing. I do notice that converting videos uses a lot of power and seems to be hard one the system. Any suggestions or pointers/ guidence will help. I'm currently a student in process of getting A+ Certified. So I do unerstand more than the average person but still new to it.

Thanks in advance!

I strongly recommend saving so you can buy the entire system at once. You would have to buy cpu, mobo, ram together. You would need a better psu when you get a better gpu. So really you would have to get it all in 3 or 4 purchases anyway.
