I currently have:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
Gigabyte GA-P35-S3 Motherboard
4GB Kingston/Corsair DDR2 RAM
I'm planning on upgrading to:
Intel Core i7 930
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Motherboard
GSKILL 6GB 1600 CL8 RAM
Is this a good setup, and will I notice a vast difference in ga,ing and general pc use.
PS. I also have a Gigabyte GTX260.

Solution
You'll definately see an improvement, the GTX260 is still rated as a very good GPU. But as you know, most games are bottlenecked at the GPU.

the GTX260 should handle that resolution quite well. I'd say later on upgrade the Gfx card and you should be set for a year+

In my opinion. It is not yet the time to upgrade your system unless you want it badly.
You can definitely feel the difference but E6750 still has decent performance for todays games.
I would like to save the money and upgrade the system in summer or fall next year.
But it is still your decision.

save your cash. OC what you have. Wait one more year...I know it's tough to do, but well worth it.
