I have a basic ibuypower computer that I bought two years ago and have recently been gaming more then I usually do so I would like a computer with a little more oomph to max out the games I play. (I play rts games exclusively and might get into counterstrike) Computer doesn't have the best cpu and the power supply def needs an upgrade but i'm wondering what I could do with this system to max out it's potential? Don't want to bottleneck

Here's the stats

can put a halfway decent graphics card in here?

Thanks

The PSU linked by BadActor is an excellent part from one of the top makers in the market.
The type of games you're playing are very hard on the CPU, less so the graphics card so a GTX750 or GTX750Ti makes a lot of sense.
Counterstrike isn't very hard on the system overall either, but if you want to max things out, also look towards the GTX950, it's nearly as quick as the GTX960 and cheaper.
All the cards suggested here will run off the Seasonic linked by BadActor and won't be held back by the FX6300 CPU.
You could put a GTX 750ti in and roughly double your FPS. The power supply is limiting you. With a better PSU, you could run a GTX 970 and that processor.

You'll need one that doesn't require a 6 pin PCIe connector.

if your willing to, for a budget upgrade i would grab a solid power supply(i prefer EVGA supernovas) something like a 600/650W and a r9 380 or cheaper r7 370 and you will have one HECK of a bump in performance over your current system with any options.

If I can swing a gtx 9750 with this build I'm def willing to pay the 125 newegg is charging. I imagine I'd be able to max out starcraft 2 or any other rts games I throw at it with the gtx 750 ti?

Didn't even know there were any worthwhile upgrades available to me without being forced to upgrade my powers supply. Might actually go with that card paired with another 8 gigs of ram.

Yeah that's def an option as well! The gtx 750 ti is def priced right though and not having to upgrade my power supply is another plus. Coupled with the added ram I think i'd be in good shape with this build for under 200 bucks. I want something I can have fun with for the next year or so and after that maybe look into getting something with a stronger cpu.

A 750 TI should be enough to run latest RTS games at high settings with decent framerates. Hell, my GT 610 runs Starcraft on medium. If you're just gonna play RTS games and CS, I see no need for going with a more expensive GPU as 750 TI will serve you fairly well until you decide to get a new rig.

Yeah I think so too. If I can get the job done with the 750 ti then there's really no reason to spend more then that for the games I'll be playing. You think it would be a good idea to drop a better power supply in as well just to be safe?

It's always a good idea to upgrade from generic to a brand-name PSU. Generic ones tend to fry all of the hardware they are connected to when dying (worst case scenario). The one you have should be more than enough to run a 750 TI but quality PSU is not something you would want to skip as it is the heart of every system.

I'm reading that even with the 750 TI it would be a good idea to have more then a 300 watt power supply. Perhaps I should get a middle of the road 500-600 watt power supply just to be on the safe side? Have no idea which one would be good with my current system though.

Any 400-500 watt power supplies you could recommend to me? I agree that it's a good idea to upgrade the power supply with the 750 ti. I'm also purchasing a wireless network adapter since the computer will no longer be hard wired so i imagine that will require an adequate power supply as well.
