Upgrade time or should I wait?

My current system spec is as shown in my signature.

I'd considered upgrading to an i5 but is it worth it? or should I hold out?

I've been out of touch with all the latest developments.

I primarily use the PC for gaming, browsing the internet and from time to time I record and edit game footage.

Any recommendations?

Upgrading to an i5 is definitely worth it but for that you have to change the motherboard too so i will say go with fx 8350 as an upgrade but if have no problem changing the board then go for i5 4690k and a z97 chipset board.

You pretty hit the nail on the head with the exact upgrade I was thinking of getting.

The fx 6100 has been nice and considering what I paid for it at the time I feel the 2/3years use I've had so far was well worth the £80 I spent on it, alongside the £80 for the mobo. I really did skimp on the money on those parts.

Then get the fx 8350 and a aftermarket cooler and OC the CPU.
