Here is the situation. I need to upgrade my NT 4.0 domain to 2003. Currently my PDC has Exchange 5.5 on it. The other problem is that i have no available disk for the upgrade. I going to have to take the path of making the new server a BDC, promote it, and upgrade it. The question is, i only can partition the new server to 4 GB. Is that enough for 2003? I mean with all the updates and everything, i don't want to be in the situation i am now. Also, what approch should i take to migrate to exchange 2003? I will purchas a new server and would like to move everything over. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I actually am in the process of doing the exact same
thing. I bought a new server, built it as nt 40 with all
necessary patches, promoted it to PDC and upgraded it with
no problem. The System partition is 4GB and it was fine
for the upgrade.

As far as Exchange, I have been told to install Exchange
2003 and join the existing Exchange 5.5 site. This allows
you to move the mailboxes from the old server to the new
server. Here's an article on this procedure. In the
article, they talk about a swing server; in our case,
there's no swing server, we don't move the mailboxes back
to the original server. Seems straight forward.

Thanks for the response. I was looking at that option as well and is good that you have giving me the feed back. As far as the NT 4. Did you do all the patches and critical updates before the upgrade? I was wondering if maybe i should just do the minimum of patches in order not to take to much disk drive, like the service packs only. Is there anything that you ran into that i should be aware or cautious about?

Thanks
