So today I am using:
PIONEER VSX-823-K AV RECEIVER.
It serves as a hub for my 2 consoles (PS3, PS4 PRO), cable box and my Gaming PC.
All connected via HDMI and a single HDMI OUT cable connects to the TV HDMI 2 ARC.
My TV is Samsung 1080p 55" UA55D6400.
My GPUs are 2 GTX 980 SLI.
I have researched upgrading my TV to 4K 65" and I decided to go with either LG B6 (Y) or Samsung KS8000.
LG B6 seems to be the best most state of the art cutting edge TV for Gaming as of this date 2017.
Especially with the amazing OLED perfect blacks and vivid colors, and zero motion blur and ghosting.
Now here's the biggest issue.
My current AVR HDMI setup won't work with 4K HDR if I am not mistaken.
Buying a new AVR that supports HDCP 2.2 and HDMI 2.0B will cost a fortune. About 4500 ILS when LG B6 costs around 20,000 ILS. (Israel currency).
I wanted to ask - will that be a viable option to use Optical Audio Fiber/Cable - instead of HDMI- and then use my current AVR as Audio Only by sending the Audio back from my TV to my AVR through the Optical Audio cable?
Will I get the same lossless highly quality audio?
Will I still have 5.1 surround on my PC, PS4 PRO and PS3?
Can i watch 60fps 4K HDR like this?
Is there any way to do so with HDMI instead?
Is there any other way I can guarantee having full support for: 4K (3840 X 2160) HDR + 60HZ (60FPS gaming) + 5.1 full surround sound?
The biggest thing holding me back from upgrading to 4K TV now is the dilemma and lack of certainty I have about needing to buy a brand new super expensive AV Receiver!
I don't have have a clue what AVR to buy to get full support and most of the special sellers here in Israel doesn't know either.
If I can somehow skip replacing my AVR and suffer no loss of audio quality or visual/audio/performance difference - and still enjoy 4K HDR 60HZ at it's fullest- I would be very happy.
Please help with as much detail and clarity as possible. I am not an expert and this is very confusing. Thanks!
