Question Upgrade to 5800X or save money for AM5?

Hi, my current specs are in my signature.
I am thinking of upgrading my CPU, contacted a few of my local 2nd hand market sellers, from which I buy every single component for PC's, and i asked them if i were to trade my 3600, for a 5800X, then i would need to pay about 140 euro's. Now for a 5800X that sounds like a pretty good deal, atleast in my country.
But, from a performance perspective, and, this community's opinion, would saving more money for a lets say AM5 upgrade make more sense?
I found a pretty nice cpu/mobo/ram combo featuring a 7600X, for like 350 euro's, if i trade in my b450 motherboard, r5 3600, and 16gigs of ram, its listed for 550 euro's if we exclude me trading in my parts for it.
So which option makes more sense?

EDIT:
Will the 5800X hold up for like 4-5 years? I think it will, but a hearing second opinion never hurts.
I play casual/popular games, nothing to special.

You don't mention why you want to upgrade. Is your current setup too slow? If so, in which way is it slow? What kind of performance boost are you hoping to see? Also, your GPU is an older one. Have you considered the possibility that maybe a GPU upgrade would be what you need? In order not to waste money, it's important to know what kind of performance boost you expect. That way you won't waste money on a CPU upgrade that disappoints you.

4 or 5 years is hard to predict, 2 years at most as comparable (to 5800x) AM5 7700x is about 15% faster but that very much depends on system's usage. On the other hand, going to AM5 brings you to all new platform from which you can upgrade components in near future. AM4 is "dead".

I dont have a certain reason i want to upgrade, besides future-proofing my rig.
R5 3600/1080ti runs all my games without a problem, also, im not obsessed with high graphic settings or that sorts of stuff. If i can run the game on higher settings( 1080p 144Hz panel btw) , i will, if i cant, ill play the game on the low settings, makes little to no difference to me. To be honest this 1080ti still does everything i want it to do, so i dont see a reason to upgrade it. As i said above, my only goal is future-proofing this rig, and in my opinion, the CPU is the next thing that needs upgrading. I play mostly LoL, Forza Horizon 5, GTA 5, Need For Speed titles, so as you can see, nothing really demanding, just want more performance while i have the money to afford it :)

I agree, but im not really in a financial position to do so currently, im leaning more towards the 5800X, then upgrade to smth like a 7800X in a few years, when the prices fall down.
From experience with 5800x I can tell you it's not a slouch, probably best buy for AM4 platform except maybe 5800x3D for some games. Prior to 5800x I had 3700x and it was a good jump. You can expect even more coming from 3600. I started with Ryzen 1600x as soon as I could get one and also upgraded to 1700x, 2700x and 3700x while changing MB (an x370 broke) and RAM (from 3000MHz to 3600MHz which is optimum for Ryzen) only once. I already bought MB and RAM for AM5 and now waiting for 7900x and some accessories to complete system in next week or two. You already have very good cooler so shouldn't have any problem with cooling although it's a hot CPU.
Good luck and don't forget to flash newest BIOS before the switch.
Ps. At 1080p CPU does most work so you'll probably be able to run your games at higher settings.

Thank you, this is exactly the answer i was looking for. I'll go with the 5800X upgrade, might post the results,if i dont forget to do so xD

I myself brought a Ryzen 3600 with a mobo for $100 little more than a year ago and thinking of buying a 8 core Ryzen 5000 cpu if it can go less than $100. Who knows, maybe by a year or 2 later, I can find 6-8 core AM5 cpu, mobo and memory for less than $200.

Thats what im thinking also, well maybe not for $200, but for sure not for $600 that it costs now. 5800X seems like the best option for both of us i guess.

Go AM5 if you think you'll want to do a drop in upgrade in another 5 years. AM4 if you want to max out this gen and wait till AM6

Although I would recommend looking at the 5700x unless you've got a decent cooler. 99.5% of the performance without heavy duty cooling needed

Ty for the advice.
I have a ROG RYUJIN 360mm, i think im fine on the cooling part. My 3600 never goes above 50C no matter what i throw at it, althought it is a 3600, not a 5800X, but u know what i mean.
