Upgrade to a better CPU for gtx 1080?

I currently rock an i5 4670k and a gtx 980ti in my current rig. Like many other people, I am going to purchase the new gtx 1080 and sell my current video card. I am wondering though, is it worth the money to also upgrade my CPU to the i7 4790k? ; will upgrading to a better CPU actually give me a considerable gaming boost?. I currently game on 1440p, and should I upgrade to the i7 4790k or not?, or maybe a different CPU all together?

The extra threads in the i7 only help in select games like Battlefield 4, I would say stick with the i5, it's a very strong CPU.

Depends on if it is overclocked, which depends on how good of a cooler you have, but it should be fine. If you want to cheaply increase performance a bit consider getting a water cooler or a high quality air cooler to get to around 4.4 - 4.7 Ghz.
