Upgrade to a Gtx 980ti or Gtx 1070

Good evening,
I currently have a Gtx 970 in my rig and I've been kicking around the idea of upgrading. I was able to find an Evga Gtx 980 ti hybrid used in my area for $300. But I've also been thinking of getting the Gtx 1070 but can't find one under $450. My question is would it be worth picking up the 980 ti hybrid at that price if they perform similarly at 1440p?

Get the Gigabyte GTX 1070 for $430. It as a great card and better than the 980 Ti, but if you are strapped for cash, the used 980 Ti will be fine. Just make sure it has no burn marks, etc.

Just check for any extensive wear or anything like that.
