[SOLVED] Upgrade to AM3 CPU

Hi guys I checked the forum but didnt find help that I could work with: I am looking to upgrade my old gaming rig's CPU.

These are my specs


I am in the process of upgrading my ram, having a bit of trouble with the recognition of my 4 GB ram (2+2), so I am stuck with 8 GB RAM instead of 12 for now. Looking at the motherboard with a AM3 socket, I would like to upgrade my current CPU with a more powerful good value CPU. Do you have any suggestions what I should be looking at?

No can do on that MB, only AM3+ socket can use FX processors.

Thank you for your reply. I read that it is possible to use AM3+ CPUs like the FX on AM3 motherboards, if the motherboard is able to supply it with enough power. Is that an option worth exploring?

You cannot use AM3+ cpu's on a AM3 mobo. You can use a AM3 cpu on a AM3+ mobo.
