Hi,

I am thinking about picking up a 2080ti and matching it with an i9 9900k. I don't know a whole lot so feel free to tell me i'm being an idiot but this is the system I built quite a while ago now. Would it be possible to just upgrade these and everything will be great or does it looking like I'll need to do a bigger overhaul?

Well....I think you can upgrade your GPU pretty significantly with that CPU.
You have a GTX 970.

I think that CPU would run a GTX 1080 well.
https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?id=3502
or and RTX 2060
https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+RTX+2060&id=4037
You would get about 50% more GPU power.
Just make sure your PSU has the right plugs for the GPU you buy.
I'm pretty sure 650 watts will be enough for all those cards....but double check.

Okay, so to be honest i'm probably gonna be doing 1440 at most. So If I get the 2080ti, I'm happy to pay to get this and not upgrade for a very long time, I should be good to just put it in this system. Provided I make sure the PSU is compatible.
The 9900k isn't going to give me such a boost to be worth the extra cost right now though?
Also is there anything in that system I kind of need to get upgraded too? Might add more ram.
