Upgrade to GTX 1070 or stick with 970?

Hey Guys
now that it is more or less certain that the GTX 1070 will match the perfoemance of a 980ti and a Titan X

should i go for one?
thats almost the double the performance of my 970

not that its giving me any problem
but i really like to play at high frame rates
however should i spend the money on the 1070 or upgrade to a i7 4790K from my current i5 4690k @4.2 Ghz?
its been working just fine
but in a few CPU bound games i get huge fps drops when the usage reaches 100% on any of the cores
the stuttering is annoying

what do you suggest i do?

it's not double the performance it's 40% more performance. it's a nice jump to be sure but lets not underestimate your current gpu that much.

better question to ask is are you gaming on a 1080p monitor with a 60hz refresh rate? cause if you are then upgrading to a 1070 would be a titanic waste of cash.

i put it in the wrong way
its the performance if a 2 way GTX 970 SLI

i am gaming at 1080p 144Hz
and like some people say that you cant really distinguish between 60 and say 90 or 100 fps
i can
the difference is very noticeable
the gameplay is much smother with higher fps

well, 144hz might see an advantage to the better gpu. so it's not like you're wasting cash to try.
