Upgrade to GTX 970 in a prebuilt

Can this pc: http://goo.gl/S71dxz ASUS G11CD-US009T support an upgrade to a GTX 970 or 980? I'm looking to upgrade to a 970 for heavier gaming and video editing.

Depends on the PSU. Have a look inside your PC, read the name and output of the PSU, Google it to find out how reliable it is, use online power supply calculator to find out if it is up to the job

The PSU is 500 watt so does the 960 that's already in it use any more power than the 970 would?

Yes, according to this http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator a 970 needs a power supply about 50W more than a 960 does

Also check the make of the PSU - unlike other PC components there is a huge variation in quality and reliability.
