Question Upgrade to i7 1150 or i5 1151

Hi, I currently have an i5-4590 with a 1070 and 16GB RAM and I feel like the CPU isn't up to par in some games like Modern Warfare and DayZ. Would I get a decent performance boost with a better 1150 processor like an I7-4790 or should I get some 1151 i5? It is of course wiser to buy an 1151 processor for future upgrades but it will be expensive. Then I will need to get a new motherboard and new RAM. Maybe it is worth saving?

Not much point in another i5 unless it's 8th gen and above (which will give you at least 6c/6t), which would mean a new motherboard and RAM.

An i7 on the same platform is possible, with 4c/8t, but the price may mean it's more economical to switch to a Ryzen 5 CPU if you're not against it. Personally would suggest saving if performance isn't too terrible at the moment.
