Last christmas i built myself a pc:
I3 6100 (intel screwed me with the pentium)
Asus h110m-k
8gb kingston hyperx fury
1tb wd blue
Gtx 1050 ti
Vs450
Nzxt s340

My birthday is coming up and i have some money saved. Combined with what i get from my parents its about 300 euros. Now my question is: should i upgrade to kaby lake? That way i dont need to buy a new mobo. Or should i upgrade to ryzen? For better performance maybe? Or should i just not upgrade? Cuz i only have had the pc for 4-5 months.

Agreed, unless you have a need to upgrade there's little point. What do you do with the pc? Gaming I'd guess from the looks of the i3/1050ti setup. What else? Video encoding or rendering, streaming? You're not going to save anything going with ryzen vs the i7, even a ryzen 5. Hard to say since I'm not sure what your local pricing is like (I'm basing off US prices). Usually the cost of the ryzen 5 plus a new motherboard is nearly the cost of an i7 and more than an i5.

You might be able to recover some of the money by selling your i3 once you upgrade. If updating to kaby lake just make sure to update your bios before selling off your i3, you'll need it for the bios update in order to support kaby lake cpu's. It depends on the games you...

It depends on the games you play though, an i7 isn't always the answer and depending on the game and limitations of the 1050ti a new cpu may or may not be worth the cost at this point.
