Hi all,

I need help choosing what parts to go for, I want to upgrade my RAM and get a new SSD to replace my current ones.

I have an Asus P7P55D-LE with a Lynnfield i7-860 @ 2.80

I want to overclock the processor using the CPU level up function in the bios, to about 3.90.

When I first built my machine, by searching the net i found that I had to get low voltage 1333 ram. So I have 8gb. Now it seems if the cpu is overclocked i can run 1600 ram?

So i was thinking about getting either of these kits:

Corsair Vengance 16GB (4x4) 1600MHz 1.5v
or
Kingston HyperX Beast 16GB (4x4) 1600MHz 1.65v

Do you guys think it would be compatible, any advice on how to get it to work or what to do?

...

Also, choosing a SSD is hard, I know nothing about them, but after some research I came up with these two options,

Samsung 840 Series 2.5" 250GB SSD + Mounting Kit - MZ-7TD250KW
/
OCZ 2.5" Vertek 4 Series 256GB SSD + No Kit - VTX4-25SAT3-256G

??

Thanks so much
Sean

I forgot to mention I will be getting a new CPU cooling fan to replace the stock fan im using at the moment... Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo Processor Cooler RR-212E-16PK-R1

Do you think this is a good one?

Yup that cooler is awesome and its cheap too. However some off the ram with the huge heat-spreaders have a tendency to conflict with the cooler.

Hey John, thanks a lot for you reply. Glad you think the cooler is a good call, that's one thing checked off the list.

Here are my current system specs:

ASUSTeK Computer INC. P7P55D LE (LGA1156)
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
Intel Core i7-860 2.80GHz
8.00 GB OCZ Dual-Channel DDR3 1333MHz (7-7-7-20) (BIOS set to auto) - DRAM Frequency: 561.2 MHz
1024MB GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Gigabyte)
466GB Maxtor STM3500418AS ATA Device (SATA)
466GB Western Digital WDC WD5000AAKS-00V1A0 ATA Device (SATA)

+ Sound Card and Network Card

RAM = OCZ3P1333LV2G x2 & OCZ3G1333LV2G x2

Given these specs do you think getting either of the above mentioned RAM and SSD upgrades is a good idea?

Should I go with 4x4GB kit or 2x8GB kit?

Ideally with the new RAM, I want to over clock my CPU to 3.8 with the aid of the new fan and some nice people on forums like this!
