Upgrade to motherboard compatible i7 cpu vs upgrading to current gen i7

So i have had my i5-4440 for quite some time now and it is showing signs of age. It is starting to bottleneck me in games such as GTA V. I always see the 99% cpu usage when ever i open a game. I have a gtx 1070 and a samsung 850 evo ssd. 16GB of DDR3 ram and 4TB of hard drives. So the problem here is not whether to upgrade or not but what to upgrade is the key here. Upgrading to another haswell cpu means i pay an inflated price for an old flagship but it means i don't have to upgrade my mobo or ram sticks, the decision would have been easier if i did not have an old H97 mobo. I would have just overclocked the hell out of the i7 4790k and voila but i digress.

The second option would be to totally overhaul everything. Get the new i7 8700k , new 16gb ddr4 ram ( can't get less after i have already got used to 16Gb ) and ofc a new z370 motherboard. So what the best choice here? is the performance difference worth the price difference? Should i just wait and save up more? are the next gen CPUs gonna be using another LGA socket so i can just wait it out and upgrade to that later? Also please suggest a good budget friendly z370 motherboard if you can, for if i choose to do the total overhaul. Thanks

yeah, and old gen I7 may not cut it. This is a good upgrade for you:

8600k could be 60 more FPS than 4790k, not to mention you can OC on Z370 too.

so you think i should just settle for another i5? I do edit videos on premiere and stream from time to time and would not want to feel like i wasted an upgrade opportunity for just around 100$ difference.

If you stream and video edit, yes, get 8700k and a good cooler too, like R1 universal/ Noctua NH-D15 if the case is big enough. Or AIO like H100iv2 or Kraken x62.
