Upgrade to r9 290x from gtx 760

Is this upgrade worth it? technically it is because the r9 290x is a far better card than the gtx 760 but i saw the release date of the r9 290x and its a 2013 card. is it worth investing in it? how long will that card last (assuming i dont burn it out or it doesnt break). i found a pretty sweat deal for it and im tempted to buy it.

The release date hardly means anything if it isn't older than 2010, the tech is still essentially the same so it won't make too much of a difference when it was released. You will see a major performance difference between cards. Go for the card!

Well there is one very important factor you need to consider, power. The 290x uses a lot of power (peaks well into the 300+ watts). If you don't have a good power supply that has a wattage of 650+, the 290x isn't an option.

Personally, I would pass on the 290x and wait for the 300 series to be released shortly.
