I recently bought some upgrades to my formerly budget pc.

Thermaltake 430w PSU
Asrock 770 motherboard

Phenom 2 x4 955BE multiplier at 18x = 3.6 ghz
Hyper 212 cooler
4x2g gskill ripjaw ram 8gb total
640gb wd caviar black HD (not the fastest drive I've owned)

Radeon hd 5670 512gb(games surprisingly well, though I wanted more for BF3)

Just bought a radeon 9650 2gb and want to unlock to 9670 but am too afraid to on this wimpy PSU so I bought a seasonic x650 gold

More importantly I wanted an ssd so I bought a corsair force 3 180gb but haven't installed it yet
I also frequently use an external USB 3.0 3TB hard drive
My M/B doesn't support sata 3 or USB 3

10 years ago I had a raid 0 system with 4 20gb hard drives and I loved the performance jump, but now I am looking for speed but more importance on stability.
Am I going to notice a significant difference if I upgrade my mobo with one like this?

I've never had an ssd before, so I am expecting a big jump even at sata 2 speeds, but I just wonder if I'd be wasting money trying a newer mobo

I play BF 3 a good bit, do lots of mp4 encoding and may start playing more games now that it's a more capable system.

You can always get a SATA 3 SSD and use it again on a SATA 3 mobo when you are ready to upgrade.

You will find that your OS, application and game load time will be much faster even with SATA 2 bandwidth.

I don't get better FPS on FSX with SSD, but the loading of the game is so much faster.

Got it installed properly, took extra care to update firmware, enable ahci, And ensure trim is enabled. Holy crap its fast. Total boot time is 26 seconds, and 2/3 of that is pre windows loading. Its just insane. I'm almost always the first on a multiplayer game like battlefield 3. World of warcraft, skyrim, and Starcraft 2 loading are super fast. Team fortress and left for dead 2 loads are almost instant. I absolutely know that fps do not go up with the ssd, but for everything else, the speed is increased by so much it just FEELS like I have a 3x faster computer. Easily the biggest upgrade I have ever noticed when upgrading a part. I may upgrade my mobo eventually to one with USB 3, much more USB 2.0 ports, and crossfire capability, but I won't expect there to be that great a difference in noticeable ssd performance, it's just already so fast.

Just a point of reference, I've read that even apple has no computers with sata 3. I've played around with a family members newly bought MacBook air and it is crazy fast too at sata 2 speeds. My mid 2010 MacBook pro 15 inch feels like a slug compared to my gaming PC that cost hundreds less.
