Is this the motherboard you're referring to? If so, yes the board is a step above(for the form factor)but I don't think the processor change is warranted. In fact if these are you specs;
CPU: Core I9 10850KA
Motherboard:Asus ROG STRIX Z490-A
Ram:32gb 3000mhz corsair
SSD/HDD:Kingston 120gb
SSD:1TB SAMSUNG
HDD:2TB WD GREEN
GPU:Inno3d x2 gtx 1080 ti
PSU:corsair Rmi750w
Chassis:Corsair spec alpha
Mointor:ASUS ROG Strix XG438Q

Then you're better off getting a dual channel DDR4-3600MHz kit or higher to get the most out of your existing platform.

Please keep in mind that it's best you parse system specs in your thread's body. Sig space specs can and will change over time, making this thread and it's relevant suggestions moot to the person in the same boat as you.

As for the processor for your father, you should've gone with something from the 11th gene since you're now relegated to PCIe 3.0 and not 4.0. Not that you're loosing out on much but you got something new and I'd have gotten something concurrent.
