Wanting to get my son something nice for his 16th birthday. Bought his gaming pc almost 3 yrs ago now. Was thinking an upgrade would be appreciated and make a cool gift.

specs:
Skytech Gaming Blaze 2
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-Core 3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6gb video card (it says card description is "dedicated". Does that mean it is permanent?)
8gb DDR4 memory
Not sure of motherboard
PSU is also 3 yrs old

Monitor: ASUS VG248QE 24" Full HD 1920 x 1080 144hz, 1ms HDMI Gaming Monitor. 3 yrs old as well.

Is upgrading the video card worth it?

He plays mostly one older game all the time and it runs fine. It is called Insurgency. But I'm concerned a newer game would be slow. He was asking for the game Stray. It looks like some tight graphics.

Thanks for any support, Billy

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

If your son isn't experiencing any lags/bog downs or if the gameplay is smooth for the titles he plays, you're in good hands.

Could you also state the make and model of the following;
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
PSU is 3 years old as well, correct?

You might also want to mention the games he's currently taxing the system with and the title he would want to play in the near future.

Thanks, I updated my post. Unsure of motherboard. The Amazon link doesn't specify. Thanks, Billy
