Hey guys

I play fortnite and im starting to take it more seriously

I have a good GPU (Gtx 1070) and want to start playing competitive

I have a Ryzen 5 1500X and an looking at a Ryzen 7 2700x. Is it worth ?

For a game like fortnite a CPU with strong single thread performance would be best, a Ryzen 3600 for example should outperform a 2700x in that game.

If you are already hitting 100% GPU usage in fortnite then upgrading the CPU will do little to nothing to help performance. You can find out what your GPU usage is in game with something like msi afterbuner. I would do this before you consider upgrading your CPU.

In short Yes

In long, I would also recommend what the others have said. Fortnite needs less cores and more speed (not saying core don't matter). But I would recommend 4-core 4ghz over 6-core 3 ghz kinda deal (if its just Fortnite).
If price isn't an issue I recommend amd r5 3600x
