Sup, I'm planning to upgrade my graphics card from a evga gtx 1060 6gb super super clocked to the RTX 3070. Just wondering if I should upgrade anything else with it, like my PSU, motherboard, etc.. If there is another part that I could upgrade aswell with the graphics card, please let me know. And if you want to be even kinder, you can recommend me a certain part. I guess my budget for the other part(s) is $120 if it is a power supply, and $200 or $300 if any other part, idk. I just have to put a random budget out there before people recommended the best motherboard and power supply money can buy...

Anyways, here's my build.

Thanks a ton, I appreciate this community

Please don't buy a RTX 2070. The RTX 3000 Series is coming out and it destroyed the RTX 2000 series prices. The RTX 2000 series are actually dropping in prices right now and fast.

How much is that RTX 2070 you wanna buy?

The RTX 3070 is supposed to be as strong as a RTX 2080TI and the RTX 3070 is starting at 499 dollars. So do not buy a 2070 super at that price or higher right now. Wait for the RTX 3060, 3070.

You're gonna have to change that PSU too. Like a good Corsair RMX 650 Watts or 750 Watts if it's 10 dollars higher than the 650 Watts. Could get a Seasonic Focus Gold too. But something good.

Your board support that card. It's PCie 3.0. Just not PCIe 4.0 Which at the moment we don't even know if the RTX 3000 series will...

That 499 price tag depends on the country really. Everyone is hyping the price, but I'm assuming that most of those live in US.

Yeah, sure in US that maybe valid, but in Europe the prices are quite a bit higher usually.

In my country I expect the 3070 to cost around $600-650(that was the case with the 2070 too) and at that price it's not nearly as worth it(considering our much lower minimal wage compared to the US).

As mentioned, the GPU is the only thing that would really need an upgrade. While the MB isn't great, performance-wise it isn't holding you back. The PSU could be another thing, but even 550W should be able to handle the RTX 3070 because you aren't OCing your CPU.

I am DEFINATELY going to overclock the gpu with MSI afterburner though, I will raise everything except the core voltage slider, will this make a difference if I will need a new PSU?
