Hi I'm wanting to upgrade from my ryzen 5 2400g i was thinking to a Ryzen 5 3600 would that be much of a difference in upgrading ? I'm on a budget and looking for help thanks .

why are you upgrading?
this is a major factor in which route you should be taking.

what are your current full system specs?
include everything you will be carrying over and all extra components you may be including.

Yes it's a big upgrade in the most demanding games but it depends on what price you can get it for. Here in the UK the 3600 makes no sense, the 5600G is a better CPU, gives you a backup GPU and doesn't cost that much more. The 5700G is also a worthy consideration depending on budget and what board you have. Though from what you say I think the 5600G would probably be the best match in terms of price and performance.
