Hi guys, recently decided to upgrade my CPU to a 58003XD as I was struggling in certain CPU bound games and i heard really good things about this CPU. and my GPU is still more than decent. RX5700XT, I was expecting reasonable gains across all of my games at the bare minimum, but in some games my FPS is worse than my old R5 3600 Warhammer 3 I booted up and the campaign map performance is actually worse than before the upgrade, I'm getting around 43 fps now, i was getting 70+ fired up hell let loose and I'm getting more consistent frames but still not much better. most of the other games I've tested no change or little to small changes. I'm rather disappointed as this was a very pricey upgrade and I haven't noticed any improvement if at all.

58003xd
16gb 3200ddr4
5700xt
Bios flashed to latest
latest gpu drivers
XMP enabled in bios
High perrfomance power plan
latett chipset drivers

Please any help would be appreciated

I've already cleared CMOS, I don't think its my PSU as I've never had problems with any other parts, and my mobo is a MSI B450M-A PRO MAX I've checked the manufacture website and the CPU is supported with the latest Bios

knowing the make and model of PSU will help determine if it's not providing enough power, or might contribute to your issue.

With that said your UBM results are way out of whack.

All your drives are not being read. Chipset and all system drivers up to date?

47% background CPU usage says it all. You need to run Userbenchmark when CPU is idle. Wait few minutes after starting the system, then close all apps (including things like Steam, Discord etc) and then run UBM, otherwise the results are worth nothing.

Yeah i know. I'm playing Battlefield 2042 a nearly a constant 100 fps at 1440p CPU at 89C under load

I took it to a PC "Specialist" and the guy who installed my CPU didn't appear to be the best, he just done a quick job of it, he applied thermal paste to the CPU as you should then put the fan back on, i cant take it back to him as he is closed for a few weeks theres just something not right here and i dont really want to be messing around with parts i dont really know nothing about.

im using msi afterburner on, there's definitely something not right here, playing a basic game like wow its using 100% processor 97% GPU
My guess would be it's thermal throttling itself.

There's a reason AMD doesn't include any of their box coolers with a 5800X3d. I also expect case ventilation isn't adequate, leaving the hot GPU exhaust to be drawn into the CPU cooler further degrading CPU's performance.

Put a decent 240mm AIO on it, front mounted to draw cool outside air through the radiator and watch it open up.

The Wraith Stealth was built for the 65w class cpus like the 5600. You just dumped a 105w monster under it with more cores and much higher Lcache. You are also running stock, which the auto voltages on that cpu along with the applicable default pbo are going to put it much closer to the 142w socket limit, on a 65w class cooler.

Welcome to thermal throttling. You will need a far better cooler, something in the 180w+ range. That's the range above the budget coolers like hyper212 etc.

Without better cooling, the 5800X3D will be thermally limited to whatever the 5600 was doing, but using more cores/threads in some aspects, it'll run hotter, so will end up with worse performance overall.

89 is way too hot. I put a 5900x on a b350 board a while back, I had a vetroo v5 cooler that couldn’t handle the 5900x, neither could the wraith prism. The only way it could was for me to turn off pbo in the bios. Your cpu is throttling back to try to avoid cooking itself.

I installed one of these and turned pbo back on. Even under all cores loaded the highest it goes is about 77. Usually idles about 30s-40s. Games I’m typically 50s I think. They also have a non rgb version of that for about 50 bucks.

Keep in mind ordering that cooler mine didn’t have instructions with it, but the manuals are online. There are about 4 revisions of that cooler. It took me a bit to find the correct instructions but once I did it wasn’t too hard to install. But that’s close to half the cost of a brand new retailing think.

I am pretty happy with it. Even on my b350 board the 5900x with pbo on will boost to 4.3-4.4ghz under a 10 minutes all core run of cinebench r23 and park itself on about 77.4 until done. It had an option for offset mounting, due to the position of the ccds in the 3000 and 5000 series ryzen cpus, but personally I used the standard mounting and it was fine.

If the op buys that cooler, I’m pretty sure the one they sent was revision 3 if that helps. They list it as B stock. From what I can tell it looks like they are sold on eBay directly but Arctic themselves and they say you still get a 6 year warranty because it’s new.

Here’s a link to a non rgb model for 45 bucks I found if you want to save money.

If you want to spend more here’s a 360mm for 90

I kind of like that these have a built in vrm cooler. Anyway the 240 does the job for me. Tempting tbh to buy one as a spare at 45 bucks just to have a spare in case of issues.
