Recently, I decided to upgrade my existing AMD A12 9800 to a Ryzen 5 1600X since my gpu was too powerful for it. However, upon installation and putting everything back together, I had to discover that my RAM wasn't working at all. Nothing. The PC won't even boot. I tried putting the old processor back in and I was only able to get the PC to boot with one stick in it in one slot. Tried the same thing with the R5 right after and nothing again. I have not been able to duplicate the results with the A12 since that one time. These dimms had worked fine up until now, but I'm wondering if it's possible to fry literally both sticks without having touched or removed them from the motherboard.
The RAM I have is 16GB (2x8GB) of Samsung M378A1K43BB2-CPB non-ecc 2133MHz that I salvaged from a prebuilt PC. It has no heat spreaders either if that makes any difference.
