I upgraded my router from linksys G to Linksys WRT1900 AC GB and not printing is 10 x slower.

I am connecting to an epson R3000 printer and an 8x10 photo used to take 2 minutes and now takes 40 minutes. It seems like the computer is trickling the information over to the printer (where it used to send all the info to the printer and then it would manage it.

I've tried lots of places for help and am at a loss. I contacted Linksys, they were no help whatsoever.

Using Windows 7, connecting wirelessly.....

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Jeff

I tried resetting to all factory defaults including the printer. then I reconnected via WPA (I think my old connection on the G router was WEP). I removed the printer from the deivces and printer window and then re-attached.

my printer can be seen in 3 ways on the "available printers" window: 1) as http://192.168.1.165:80/WSD/DEVICE 2) as a device that is networked through another machine (shared maybe?) and then also with a direct IP of 192.168.1.165

I connected the 3rd way, and tested the wireless connection results - signal strength is excellent

I tried printing, stil very very slow.

the new router has both 2.4 and 5 GHz ability.
both security are set to WPA2/WPAMixed Personal
Braodcast SSID is set to yes
Network Mode is set to Mixed
channel is auto
channel width is auto for 2.4 GHz

On the 5GHz:
Channel is set tio 161-5.805 GHz
Channel Width is 40MHz

The computer I am using is hardwired into the router.

thanks for your help.....

Set the 2.4 mode to pure N (unless you need g for older devices).

Set security to just WPA2 Personal (with AES encryption). WEP encryption is very insecure nowadays, use only if absolutely necessary.

Also.. did you update router to latest firmware?

I tried turning 2.4 off, but my printer no longer could see it.

I set the 2.4 network to g only and WPA2Personal (no AES option - there by default?). I checked the router and no new firmware update available. channel and channel width are both set to auto.

the manual for the printer says it supports N, but when I go to pure N the printer does not even see the wireless network

BTW, interestingly enough, we have another new printer that also can not see the n network (and it should, brand new from costco).

what is frustrating is that I had a good connection and good print speed with the old g network.......

And if it helps, I bought the new 1900 GB router so that I could hook to my NAS with much better speeds (reported to be 80 Mbps and I am only getting about 10Mbps

Hmm interesting.

I don't really have any more advice for you. It sounds like the N network 2.4Ghz is whacked. Did you try it with lower security... WPA? or even (shudder) WEP?

I'd consider returning the Linksys, and perhaps try a Netgear Nighthawk, or one of the newer ASUS models. Most of the newer routers have USB 3.0 ports for file sharing.

You've actually walked me through all of the necessary steps - I have been fiddling with it all night and it seems with the last set of changes that the issue has been resolved through reloading of the printers and the re-setting to factory standards the printer.

I very much appreciate your help!!!

(and btw, the router I bought does have 3.0 ports......)

Thanks!
