I'm probably going to get laughed at for even asking this, but maybe I'll find someone who did the same upgrade recently. Anyway, I just swapped my 3.0 GHz Pentium D for a Core i5-750 processor. What kind of gain in speed & frame rate should I expect?

Thanks!

In that case, basically everything should see a huge improvement.

Oh, and you know you need new RAM too, right?
well i had a D 940 i had just retired a month ago and i stepped up too a core 2 quad and i saw just about all my frame rates almost double with that. but it all depends on your other hardware u useing of course u have to get new mobo. But if you are useing a crppy gfx card like a hd3400 series or something u wont see any improvement in your frame rate.

with that gpu u will see ur frame rates will be alot better. The pentium D was bottlenecking the hell out of that 260 u will be very happy with the performance increase. Im guessing a rough estmate but u will see probbly a 75% increase in frame rates.

Yup, Corsair XMS3 1600 , 2 GB installed at the moment. Since I'm running XP 32 bit I've heard installing all 4 can actually slow things down - It's a mixed bag though, some think it does, some claim no difference. I personally think 2 GB should be more than enough with XP anyway.

Edit - I definitely plan to use all 4 once I upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit

You would definately get an improvement but I have no idea how you were able to upgrade the processor. Are you sure your mobo can handle it as I have seen many motherboards that are unable to upgrade to anything other than a pentium d.

If you read the whole post you would see he upgraded his motherboard
