I recently bought an EVGA Geforce GTX Titan X Hybrid and traded it for my MSI Geforce GTX 980 but i experience no performance difference.
Specs are:
Intel Core i7 5820K
EVGA Titan X 12GB
250 GB Samsung SSD
Seagate Barracuda 2TB
ASUS X99-A
Asus Rog Swift PG279Q

I did a clean uninstall and reinstall of new drivers for the card but still i see no little to no difference.

And you were expecting a change in performance...why?

The Titan X apparently provides only a slight performance boost over the 980Ti -- & given that Tom's Hardware puts them at the same tier, you shouldn't expect to see any difference (especially if you're not playing at 2160p resolutions). And if you did... you should expect to see a drop in performance.

Why would it drop in performance...?

Because 980Ti GPUs are usually factory overclocked and end up being faster than a Titan X. You could have saved yourself $400 and gone with a 980Ti instead.

That being said, everyone keeps comparing the Titan X to a 980Ti but the OP's post said he upgraded from a 980 to a Titan X. He never mentioned having a 980Ti. The Titan X should be faster than a 980.

Some games won't get near 144 FPS at 1440p even on a 980Ti or Titan X though.

How come i was able to run about 100 FPS at 1440p on my old 980 then...? This is example is taken from World of Warcraft at ultra settings.

World of Warcraft is a very old game that is more CPU intensive than GPU intensive. Your CPU was probably hitting its limit before the 980 was in that game. If that is the case than upgrading to a better GPU would not give you any performance boost.

You also didn't tell us what framerate you are now getting in World of Warcraft on your new Titan X so it is impossible for us to compare.

Running at same FPS count.

That would indicate that your CPU isn't capable of putting out more FPS then. Like I said its a CPU intensive game so if your CPU is being maxed out, upgrading to a new GPU would provide zero benefit.

That's not to say your CPU is bad. It's a great CPU. Some games just won't run at 1440p and get 144 FPS.

I understand what you're getting at, do you have any advice for me about maybe changing anything?

Well you could always try CPU overclocking (if you haven't already).

I have actually never tried overclocking so trying it would make it necessary to know what I'm doing first.

It's pretty simple. It's really just increasing the multiplier and Vcore in your motherboard's BIOS.

Even though it's a simple process you always want to look up the safe voltage and temperature limits for your CPU before starting though. Not all models have the same limits.

Ok! Thanks for the advice I'll try myself around.

Yeah, didn't pick up on that until after I posted.

Titan X > 980Ti

So replacing a Titan X with a 980 Ti would normally mean a drop in performance.

However...at the resolution you're playing at, you wouldn't expect to see much (if any) difference...which is what it sounds like is happening.
