A WiFi 5 dongle works badly with a new Router requiring WiFi 6.
The Dongles on my computer say, 802.11n.
I had to put back my old Router and I think I have to order all new dongles for
my computers and laptops that use WiFi with the WiFi 6 80211ax connectivity.
The router that I have did not specify the need to do that but a data sheet I downloaded for the router shows WiFi 6. Dongles could be pricey so I found a deal for 5 for $15.00 US dollars eventually. At first look, they wanted $200.00 per dongle.

The WiFi disconnects and then it can not be found again, but WiFi 5 works
very poorly. No pop up box telling me to get the WiFi 6 dongle and 802.11ax
connectivity.

Most wifi6 is a waste of money. The vast majority of the stuff you find only uses 80mhz radio bands just like wifi5. It therefore performs about the same. There are all kinds of technical issues supporting 160mhz radio bands so many device do not support it.
You would have to go to wifi6e that uses the 6ghz band to solve this bandwidth issue. Of course wifi6e is even more expensive.

You have garbage wifi cards if they only support 802.11n. That would be called wifi4 with the new names, it is very old.

I would avoid buying USB dongles. Most have tiny antenna and are low power. You should replace the internal cards in your laptop and desktop if it is possible before you buy dongles. You are not going to find a quality wifi card for under $25. Those ones that you see for $5 are garbage.

Hard to say most wifi6 routers will drop back to wifi5. Again the only very large difference is the 160mhz radio bands so when wifi6 runs with 80mhz it is running wifi5 compatibility mode.

O.K. I must have only WiFi 4 with the 802.11n imprint on it. Since I posted this as a question, not that I am yet an expert, you mention WiFi 6e as the best choice.
Poor connectivity and hard to connect and then it disconnects in a few minutes with my WiFi 4 reciever on my computer. That it connects at all is a mystery and NO POP UP BOX to explain to get the WiFi 6 reciever. A different frequency of radio you say, then how does it connect at all? Then after a while being frustrated, it shows that it finds no WiFi to connect to in the first place.
Since everyone will eventually have this problem when they just swap out the old router with the new one the telepone company sends, it just does not work as a swap out and if you ask the telephone company they will just tell you to reboot the router after disconnecting it for 10 seconds as it they do not know either.

I will have 4 more internet connections with the new router. Internet, Internt2, Internet3 and so on. I will go where no man has ever gone before.

SOLVED: Initially I had a CD/DVD to set up my router modem with the telephone company years ago with my old XP. Today I was sent a router modem to put in myself without their service tech who had that proprietary software on CD/DVD. It would have re-directed the web browser it took over to set up the first internet connection.

I called the Internet Service Provider and they asked for the modem router serial number & MAC address. They had to key it in manually.

Now I get the WiFi 4 to work with the WiFi 6 that my new router modem has. I bought new dongles that are WiFi 5 and WiFi 6 from the internet vendor. They do not have it in stock and it has to come from China.

Call your Internet Provider or use your original installation disk that will again connect your router modem to your internet service provider that you have in the booklet they provide.
