So I upgraded my motherboard from an ASUS 970 AURA pro gaming to an Gigabyte Z270x extreme gaming with an i5-7600k and 16 GB ddr4 ram.

When everything got replaced and plugged in, I turned on the switch on my PSU and immediately noticed that there was no LED light on my motherboar turned on. I knew my PC was not gonna turn on and indeed it didn't...

I thought no LED light on motherboard? --> means no power on motherboard

I took my old motherboard (the asus 970) to plug in the 24 pin of the PSU to check if it was a PSU or a MOBO problem. The asus motherboard turned on, solid led light. So it must be the new Gigabyte z270 motherboard I got. Now when I wanted the replug the 24 pin in the z270 it, the switch on the PSU was still on (forgot to turn it of), and while plugging in I noticed the LED light and fans etc.. lit up/reacted. But not constantly (they were flickery), it repeatedly turned on and off (like there was a bad connection or not enough power) and this happend while the 24 pin wasn't completely plugged! in(I just hold it against it with my hand). But when I completely pushed it in so that is was locked by the plastic pin, --> again no power...at all

So when plugged in correctly -> no power, no led, no sign of life
When plugged in just a little by holding it with my hand ( and not locked) -> power and led reacts but it flickers so no constant power...

So I found it to be the motherboard being the problem, is this a common problem had anyone experienced something like this before? Is it a connection problem? Is it my PSU not having enough power? It's weird that when my 24 pin isn't completely plugged in my motherboard gets power, ( ofcourse not enough caus eveything turns on and off constantly) and when plugged in completely no power at all...

I wished to share this with you guys to have people's opinion on this, and know what I could do to check out better where exactly the problem is. Thanks for your time and responses!

my PSU is a Coolermaster G650M

Case: BW9000 Sharkoon
OLD CPU: AMD 8350
NEW CPU: i5-7600k
old Cooler: Hyper212 EVO
New Cooler: Pure Rock Be Quiet
old MOBO: Asus 970 Pro gaming Aura
New Mobo: z270x Extreme gaming gigabyte
old RAM: 8GB DDR3
New RAM: 16GB DDR4 Hyper x
1tb SATA drive, 100Gb SSD

Greetings

Because you switch the PC from AMD to intel, do you try reinstall the OS ? From what I read you maybe just plug the SSD with OS from the AMD asus 970 pro into the intel Z270x to boot the PC. If you did it, you are better to reinstall the OS, the MB chipset is totally different.

Hi Cin19 thanks for your reply and time

I can not even boot... the electricity doesn't go into the motherboard correctly, what does that have to do with switching from AMD to INTEL?

What I'm saying is for the PSU and the motherboard it does not matter if it is an INTEL or AMD, the electricity from the PSU still needs to go into the MOBO through the 24 pin connector whether it's an AMD or INTEL board
