Hi,

I just replaced my AM3 board with a MSI H87m-e33 and i5 4440. I turned the pc on, no video and it shuts down after like 30s, then reboots. I also can't turn the pc off via the power button.

What's going on?

It could be incompatible RAM or any number of things. That is why I asked for the complete system specs (still haven't seen them posted) and suggested performing EVERY step in our troubleshooting checklist. It was created for this type of problem and will almost always help find what's causing the problem if ALL the steps are followed. I have no suggestions that aren't already documented in the troubleshooting checklist. I have spent countless hours on the checklist to make sure it's successful in troubleshooting problems like you are experiencing.
Perform all the steps in our troubleshooting checklist and let us know how it goes. It's likely something's not connected properly. Double check the case front panel wiring as that is likely the cause of not being able to shut the machine down with the power switch. It's also true that once you get the system to successfully POST you will need to do a fresh install of your OS.

There's a link to the troubleshooting checklist in my signature.

Hmm, don't see crucial on the list so I guess the RAM isn't compatible.
But normally you'd see an error message if there's something wrong with the RAM right?

So after I turn my PC on after about 30s it shuts down, after that It will turn on again and continues to run.
Can't turn it off via power button either.

There was another thing though. When I installed the CPU fan I thought it would keep the fan power cable wraped around the fan as I would save space. But apparently it was blocking the fan. I noticed it after like 3 times trying to boot the pc. 2 times I shut it down after the 30s reboot, 1 time I kept it running another 30s after the 30s reboot.
Would this have to do something with it? I doubt it though because I didn't get any video the first few boots either so if the fan was working from the start I still would have had a blank screen.

No, incompatible RAM doesn't give you an error message. It's possible the RAM is preventing the system from successfully passing the POST and entering the BIOS. I also think the front panel wires aren't connected properly if the power switch doesn't turn the system off. Are you pressing and holding the power button when you try and turn it off?

Don't know what's wrong with the power switch, got the + and - side correctly in. Checked the cpu again if something was wrong but everything looks fine.

The motherboard was a demo model, it was tested by the site I bought it from. 100% working they said. I still got warranty on it even though it's a demo model. It was kinda hard to get the vga cable in the motherboard so that might be the problem too, if the video is only outputting to that port though. I'll call them and ask for a new one, they're the most popular site for pc parts here and they have a good customer service so I think they'll cooperate.

I'll order some supported ram too.

Thanks and I'll update on progress!
