Upgraded PSU, No Audio

Hi,

I recently upgraded my power supply. This wasn't to replace the old one because it was broken or anything, just a simple upgrade.

However, after setting it all up, everything seems to be fine except my rear audio jack no longer plays sound. Opening audio mixer, I can see that Speakers (though I connect with headphones, but it was like this before the upgrade anyway) are registering audio, playing the green audio level bars. There is no orange "!'" indicating any issues, I have uninstalled the drivers and restarted multiple times, and in BIOS, I have made sure audio is allowed.

Additionally, I've tried the headphones on my phone, and they're still working like a charm.

The case does have a front panel audio jack, but I've never plugged it in (now and with the old power supply) as I hear rear panel audio is superior.

I'm having a difficult time imagining solutions, as while I assume it to be immediately related to the PSU switch, there shouldn't be any issues with it, as there's no real connection needed when the jack is directly fitted to the motherboard.

Any and all help is appreciated!

Why are you withholding important information for us to help you? Thanks for finally sharing that you're using an Asrock P55M Pro motherboard.

Now what was the old PSU and what is the new one?

If all you did was swap out the PSU, then the problem could be as simple as a missing -5V rail.

@scout_03 I've never used the front panel in the first place. I'm trying to fix the rear panel.

I have plugged in the front panel connector as you asked. This does not work either (assuming that the prongs marked "HD Audio" at the left side of my motherboard are the correct ones to connect to).

Thank you. I'll try that. Do you have any tips on getting the rear jack to work?

Still no audio from either panel.

Did not have an option for Realtek in the bios, simply enable, disable, and auto.

I don't have Realtek. I tried to download their drivers when you mentioned them but after the restart at the end of the install theres no difference at all, and I cannot find a panel in which to configure it.

Would a cheap audio card circumvent the issue if it were? Also, that would mean that my front panel audio would work, while the back does not, I think.

But the case is both panels don't play audio.
