First I buy a EVGA GTX 980 4 gb graphics card to replace my GTX 750 TI.
When I tried to plug in the new card I realized my PSU didn't have the appropriate cables. The gtx 980 requires two 8 pin adapters.
So I bought a Seasonic 620W power supply that had all the 8 pin adapters I needed. I unplugged my system, unplugged eeverything that was connected to the old 500w diablotek PSU. Installed Seasonic 620w PSU, hooked everything back up. Hitting the power button gets everything spinning for a breif moment then silence. I checked to make sure everything was plugged in right.
Here is my build.
Gigabyte Technology MOBO
AMD 6800k Processor
Western Digital 1TB harddrive
8gb RAM
EVGA GTX 980 GPU
Seasonic 620w PSU

Im worried the better PSU fucked with my MOBO or something. Let me know what I should do. Thanks!!

Usually that means there is a short and the PSU just safely shuts itself off. Not always the case but usually.

Check all your connections. Try again.
if that didn't work...
Disconnect everything except motherboard. Try turn the system on with ONLY Motherboard + CPU + 1 RAM DIMM + PSU
If none of this still doesn't result in a post...
Try your old PSU and see if it behaves differently.

Report back, let us know what you find. =]

Okay I unplugged everything and replugged. No change. Then I unplugged everything and only plugged psu, mobo, psu, and ram with onboard graphics, no change still start going for a second then stops 🙁

Further update. Plugged in old power supply. Computer boots normally. Tried new PSU again, this time at a different outlet, still no boot. I don't get it I bought the PSU brand new any advice appreciated!

Is it a modular type? Maybe using wrong cable in wrong spot? Or modular cable from a different PSU? (They are not compatible in this way.)

If you're sure that you've connected everything correctly on the new PSU then it's probably just faulty. Return it while you can, maybe consider a different brand.

Seasonic makes some good stuff, but I'm sure there are other brands that will be just fine too.

This sucks! Is there anyway my motherboard or CPU doesn't like the PSU and aren't compatible? If it really is just a faulty psu I'll have no problem replacing it with a different brand

I have been having the same issue, I have also replaced the mobo and proc so they are completly new, the psu had an rma done and it was even upgraded to the next model (semi mod to full mod) and I still have the same issue.
All the connections are connected properly, I tried multipul cords and same result. I also did try ONLY Motherboard + CPU + 1 RAM DIMM + PSU and same result. I am at a loss and do not know what to do..........Please help i have been attempting this for a year and am at the end of my rope here.
