Question Upgraded Ram, only half available

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone can help me with this RAM upgrade.

I have a HP Elitebook 745 G3
Previously it had 8GB RAM (1 x 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz PC3-12800) but I've now installed 2 x 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz PC3-12800 , these were bought as a pair.
Windows 10 suggests that I have 16GB but only 7.42Gb available.
BIOS confirms I've got 16GB
Task manager confirms I've got 16GB, but again only 7.42GB available.
The specs for the laptop suggest 2 x 8GB is supported

I've tried the following:

1. Swapped the position of memory
2. msconfig to uncheck the maximum memory tick box
3. Updated BIOS to the latest version
4. Check BIOS for any settings that might help but found nothing
5. Regedit to clear page file on shutdown
6. Each individual 8GB works fine independently

Running out of things to try so really hoping someone can assist

as a kit or 2 individual stick?

when you do #6, test both slot?

yeah it was a kit

No didn't try just a single in the 2nd slot, wasn't sure if that was meant to work or if only one unit it should be in slot 1.
