Was this a good upgrade or should I get something else?

The RM1000x is a solid power supply. I don't see why you would need to return it. Did you run into any specific issues with the RMx? Or are you just wondering?

That RMx1000 is a good quality PSU. No need to worry.

Just be careful to make sure you don't mix cables. Don't use cables from old PSU on the new one. Just use the modular cables that come with the new Corsair.
when i first tried to turn it on it wouldnt work. Realized it was because the hard drive cables did not match the ports on psu so i switched all the cables.
