Hey all, so just upgraded me and my wife's identical dells xps 8500 about 2 years old with a new power supply and video card. Evga 600b psu and evga 960 gts superclocked.

Both start up but both of them stop at dell screen with bios options and make 3 beeps very far apart from each other, and then boot up fine.

What am i missing here, everything seems powered fine and all just not sure where to start with them.

.Hello rayschaller,

My name is Shrikanth and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. 3 beeps indicate an issue of system motherboard failure. Just make sure all the connectors to the motherboard are fine. If you are still having issues I suspect the motherboard is a faulty one.

Thanks and regards

oh and sorry don't know where to find a bios error log

In the bios, if yours has that option. While your in there check the date and time, make sure the bios is set to initialize the PEG or Pcie graphics card first. Maybe in perform a a reset after making note of any non-default settings.
How old are these? You may want to change out the bios/cmos battery as part of troubleshooting.

@Dell - he's not getting 3 beeps, he's getting 1 beep repeated three time, which is still a system board failure error code as far as I remember, but I just wanted to clear that up in case you have another idea. Yes its normal for trouble codes to repeated three times afair.

So I have tried to open the bios at the screen and it does nothing but the beeps and starts up....now this is like this on both computers somaybe a bios update to support the new gpu or psu?
