Upgraded to new Mobo and unable to recognize old hard drive

So I just upgraded my MoBo, hard drive, ram and other small things to my computer. While the old system was running Windows Vista on a 500g hard drive. I opted to do a fresh install of Windows 7 on the new hard drive because of lack of space on the old one. Now however if I have both hard drives plugged in I am able to load Windows 7 but soon after windows itself locks up. I can run the computer with out the old hard drive with no problems but I would like to access its information as my movies and music are on the old hard drive. I'm not quite sure what I have to, any hints or ideas?

Have you tried excluding the old HD from the boot order list in the bios to see if that stops the lock-up? You didn't state at what point windows locks up (at start menu, before/after, etc.), so this is just a wild guess as to what might be happening?

Was your old hard drive running on Vista x32 or x64 and what version of W7 are you now running?

Sorry I forgot to elaborate a bit:
The point windows is locking up is after it loads completely and I go to click start menu or task bar all I get is the "loading circle"(hour glass). I have yet to tinker with the bios yet but I will try that, am I correct in thinking my computer my be trying to load windows 7 as well as vista because it detects 2 operating systems on two different hard drives? My old system was vista x64 and my new system is Windows 7 professional.
