Upgrades (and fun with bottlenecking!)

Dec 27, 2012
So, right now I have a perfectly working system I've built from parts on newegg with these parts:

-ASRock N68C-GS FX AM3+ NVIDIA GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a Micro ATX AMD Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157309

- AMD Athlon II X2 250 Regor 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor ADX250OCK23GM - OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103904

- G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231426

- Seagate Barracuda ST250DM000 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148765

- Athena Power CA-GSB01DA Black 0.8mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811192289

- GIGABYTE GV-N65TOC-2GI GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125446

- And a 700W high performance power supply from a brand name I can't remember(from Fry's), an iHas 124 Liteon dvd drive I had, and another drive I had.

I'm very aware that I've bottlenecked this system. For the holidays, I'm going to get a new CPU and possibly, a new MB. For the CPU, I was thinking a nice FX-4170 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819106009) for the quad + 4.2/3 GHz, because I don't overclock. Maybe I should go with a non-FX, as I've heard many different things about the FX, so possibly a 3.4GHz quad (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727)?

On to my real question. Some of the comments on my MB say that it isn't PCIe 2.0, and just 1.0. I've checked the marking and it doesn't say 2.0 ANYWHERE. So, how badly would this hurt my FPS? Is it worth a new MB? I'll post some Mobos i was thinking of if so.

Thanks. :D

P.S. I'm a gamer who really wants to play AC3 and Far Cry 3 on medium at 40 fps (at 1366 X 768 res).
