I have a build from 2014 wich is now having anomalies (everything firmware & software is up to date).
I would like to upgrade using as many original components as possible, that are not effected by new form factors etc.
I only play games at 1080p the only game that gives me issues is Deus Ex manking divided.
Need to keep costs down will probably need Motherboard, Processor, memory & Graphics card.
Must support 3 monitors and Intel based
Current spec is:-
Corsair CC-9011049-W Obsidian Series 450D Windowed Mid-Tower ATX Case.
Corsair 750W CX Builder Series 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply.
Asus Z97-K Motherboard.
Intel 4690-K CPU.
Corsair 8GB DDR3 1866 MH2 Cl9.
Corsair-Hydro-series-H60-2013-High-Performance-Liquid-CPU-Cooler.
ASUS AMD Radeon R9 280X 3GB PCI-Express 3.0 HDMI.
WD 1TB SATA 6GB/s 7200 RPM 64MB 3.5" HDD.
SanDisk SDSSDXPS-480G 480GB SATA SSD.
Crucial P3 1TB PCIe M.2 2280 SSD.
3 x ASUS 24" VG248Q 1ms VGA DVI HDMI, other peripherals are all corsair gaming.

Solution
could go with DDR4 board and save some cash, Not much difference with DDR4 vs DDR5.

Nice build, 🤓 Glad to see it lasted you nearly 10 years!

Personally, I would replace everything except the data drives. The power supply is out of warranty and would present a risk to a new build (possible component failures), the AiO is also out of warranty and again would present a risk to a new build (possible leaks.) And of course, the CPU/Mobo/RAM are DDR3 and won't be compatible with anything relatively new.

Corsair has the RM750e on sale right now for $79.99. That would be a good power supply to snag while it is 20% discounted. If you need an Intel based system, LGA1700 is the latest at the moment with 12th, 13th, and 14th-gen CPUs being compatible with that socket. Intel may release a new socket later this year.

LGA 1700 is compatible with either DDR4 or DDR5 memory. The motherboard will determine which. I would go with DDR5.

GPU depends on your budget. I would consider RX 6600, RX 7600, or RX 7600X.

When it comes to CPU even the lowest end 13th gen i3 will kick the snot out of the 4690K and steal its lunch money, and for GPU pretty much anything released in the last 4 years will give you at least double the performance, so even the budgetiest of budget builds will give you a big boost.

I'd also agree with @MrN1ce9uy that replacing PSU and cooler is probably for the best - if either of them fail they could cause damage to the new hardware; what you should change them to obviously depends on the rest of the build. (If your WD drive is a similar vintage to the rest of the system I'd be inclined to replace that too.)

Yes, I like that your case looks ready for a monster GPU, but look at card dimensions anyway just in case. Your case might not tolerate an extended ATX so be careful with ExtendedATX motherboard sizes. You'll need a fresh win11 install, put it on one of the SSD if possible. I recently got a 750 power supply, but I would advise an 850 or bigger. I dont see the next GPUs being bigger power hogs than the big boys currently available, but be safe. In addition to the power supply, yes a CPU, MB, memory and GPU seems like all you will need to hit the ground running.

12600KF is at a decent price right now. Just have to decide if you want to save money or go for the latest generation of CPU available from Intel. Also some decent prices on 12700 and 13700 class processors.

Depending on budget, I would go for a 7800x3d and a 7800xt. Yes, 16GB of VRAM might be a bit overkill for 1080p, but if OP wants to play more demanding games, or wants to upgrade their monitor, then it would be able to handle that.

My next question would be what motherboard manufacturer, have always historically used Asus.

There are tons of research to be done on different motherboards from each manufacturer. I'm sure you can find reviews on them. I'm not concerned enough to compare the manufacturers as much as I am to compare the chipsets. Once you find the chipset you need, you can pretty well find a good enough board. I went with Asus in the past, however their past couple generations or more have been absurdly priced and (from what I saw on at least one generation) had lower quality components than the previous generation while still holding a price increase. So, I'm somewhat boycotting Asus altogether until they improve the value of their products. And maybe they have improved their components quality (I don't care enough to look into it), but I still see higher prices across the board on their motherboards and GPUs alike when compared to the other manufacturers.

A few Z690 boards pretty cheap right now. That would position you well for a CPU upgrade in the future.

i3-12100 is only 200Mhz slower and a bit cheaper.
