Upgrades for budget gaming pc

I was talking to my friend about upgrading my pc and he told to to get ryzen instead of intel.
Originally i was going for a i5 7500 with an ssd and an air cooler. I saw ryzen 5 1500x was the same price as the i5 7500 and the cpu cooler that it comes with is good enough to overclock the cpu and keep it cool. I have to get a new mobo for ryzen (AB350M matx) with an ssd. Also he told me to keep my 8gb 2133mhz ram because there is no major difference in performance to get 3000mhz.

8gb
gtx 1050 ti
1tb hd

If you do go ryzen you will eventually want fast ram. From 2133 to 3200 makes a big difference. But if you want better price to performance get ryzen

I still want good performance with my gpu included. Does the r5 1400 do better with an gtx 1050 ti or should i go with a 1500x or 1600
