[SOLVED] Upgrades for Dell inspiron 518

Basically I think it has this mother board ( https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&sou...aw1T2uOeGlyPfHIi_B9KWtSa&ust=1563400209301776), it has 3 gbs of ram and pentium(R) dual core e5200 @2.50 GHz cpu. Basically I want to upgrade ram, cpu/and cooler if required, and add a graphics card. Don't know what parts will work, except for it uses lga 775 cpu. Parts seem cheap, what do you recomend.

I wouldn't recommend putting any money into this system. However, if you must:

You could do a Core 2 Quad Q9650
You're probably stuck with the proprietary cooler that comes with that PC, But who knows.
You can only run DDR2 memory so you're limited to like 800mhz which isnt really suitable for modern games.
The motherboard will have proprietary connectors but you can probably get away with most newer modern power supplies.
The more I type this out the more I realize that you shouldn't waste your money or time trying to upgrade this.

You would throw in a 4 core q6600 and 8gb ram, but it isnt worth it. If you were to add a gpu it would coat about about $100 for like a gtx 1050.

Purchase something similar to what remixislandmusic posted up top.

You will spend a similar amount of money trying to upgrade your current system.

What's your max budget? Id up the ram to 16gb, get a slightly better case, and bump the ssd capacity up. Adding a better GPU could help aswell.

I know I can use my hard drive from my current pc, but could I use the operating system from it?(windows 10) Also could I use it as the main storage? Or will the motherboard on boot up recognize the older drivers? I have some knowledge on pc building but not alot.

IS this HDD SATA or IDE?

If it is IDE, it won't work.

A SATA hard disk drive will work and can be used as the main drive, however since it is old it may be unreliable and it will be many times slower than the solid-state drive included in the parts list above.

No matter if you use the new SSD or your old HDD, you will have to reinstall the operating system with a new license key. Switching from Intel to AMD without a reinstall of os is not going to work well.
