I am wondering is it worth getting upgrades for my rig. I am going to get the Asus PG27VQ which is 1440p@144Hz and would like to get max FPS in upcoming games specifically Destiny and other upcoming shooters. Would it be worth getting a 2nd GPU or would I need to upgrade my CPU? I don't have any water cooling on the GPU but I do have a lot of fans and a larger case for airflow so I don't think heat would be a problem. I also have a 4K60hz monitor also.

a 1070 will give u 80-100 in 2k even in the demanding games. u r all set for 4k 100hz if u get a 1080ti. u wont be needing a second 1080ti. check the benchmarks for the 1080ti in 4k. its 30-40% faster than the 1080.
You should be fine with a 1080ti, for driving 144hz+ it usually requires a beefier CPU. That CPU should be fine, but If you're itching to buy a new one then go for an i5-7600k/i7-7700k. Note that you'd have to buy another motherboard and new RAM for this CPU, but seeing as you have a 1080ti money may not be the biggest issue :)

Well if the CPU is ok for 144hz I'll hold off for another year so since I only play games on the pc. Would GPU be off the cards too for 2K144hz and 4K60hz for AAA game at max settings?

Well you will see benefits of a second GPU but I wouldn't say it's necesary. If you're wanting to game at 4k60hz at high-ultra you'll probably "need" a second 1080ti for better FPS, but for 1440p144hz at medium-high settings you should be alright (but again a second GPU would help). I personally don't think most of the ultra settings look noticeably different than high (or sometimes medium), though they take up significantly more resources.

I think I might just hold off until I get games like Destiny or Battlefront II and see how they are running and even if the support SLI and go from there.

1440p 144hz is actually harder than 4k 60hz.

I would stick with one 1080ti until vega and volta come out. My 1070 performs better than a 980ti. It might be better for your money in the long run to just use one 1080ti and instead of buying another 1080ti, buy an 1180ti a year from now or some vega super card later this year.
